A Little Night Music

Well, hello there 2010! How are you?

So far, 2010 has been the year of the sickness. First Three was sick with a nasty cold / cough that has completely dismantled his mad sleeping through the night skills. Which is very sad for Mama. And the husband and I are still recovering from a nasty stomach thing that I strongly suspect Three brought home from daycare. But hey, instant diet!

So since 2010 has been uneventful, lets recap one of the last events of 2009!

As you may or may not have heard, I turned 30 the day after Christmas. And despite what the husband will tell you, I am pretty okay with it. My 20’s were pretty productive. I gradated from college (with a BFA in drama, but hey, you can’t win them all. Someone should go back to 1998 and smack my 18 year old self, but that’s another story), I (eventually) got a job, I married my high school sweetheart, we bought a condo, we traveled the world some, we had a baby. I’m working my way down that life checklist pretty darn well. And really, life isn’t so bad. So what isn’t there to look forward too?

Anyway! So, despite the fact that I was emotionally okay with the whole 3-0 thing, I was still angling for a BIG birthday present. Because really, what’s the point of a whole new DECADE without something awesome to ring it in with? And the husband, he did not disappoint. He somehow got my parents to agree to babysit the rug rat for a night and off we went to NYC for 24 hours of shopping, touristy fun and fine dining without once having to worry about a certain 2.5′ tall someone throwing his dinner on the floor. It was GLORIOUS. And funnily enough, at the end of spending 24 hours together in which we actually had to talk to each because there wasn’t munchkins to distract us, we decided we actually still like each other. Win! And double bonus, I got a new pair of jeans, a couple pairs of PJ’s and new running shoes (which I have yet to have the chance to use - boo) out of the deal. I love when the stores put all their merchandise on sale for my birthday. Its so nice of them. So my birthday rocked. I think I am going to turn 30 again next year.
