About Me

I’m Helen. I’m a married, first time working mom who dabbles in photography, loves the Yankees, is obsessed with Johnny Damon, listens to more Bon Jovi than is probably healthy, hates running but also lives for it and aspires to run a half marathon, adores long walks on Caribbean beaches, dreams of walking the streets of Europe, and is a self declared princess.
This is my blog. Maybe its interesting. Maybe its not. But its fun. For me.
Here are some highlights:
I married my high school sweetheart on June 25, 2004. We got married in Walt Disney World. Yes, I am that girl. We like to say we were high school sweethearts because it ignores all the DRAMA that surrounded us our Junior and Senior years of high school. Most of the drama was our own damn fault, but we were 17, what the hell did we know?
We live now where we grew up. In some circles that would be quaint. But you haven’t seen where we live. All the negatives of the suburbs, combined with all the negatives of a small city with none of the positives of a small town. But, it works for us. Living in an actual city would mean I would have fewer Coach bags, would be hard pressed to afford my Seven for All Mankind Jeans, and I would have to take less expensive vacations, and who wants that? Besides, being close to our parents means the baby is close to his grandparents, and that has its obvious benefits - built in babysitters!
I love to travel. Which I have discovered recently. We’ve been to Aruba, London, Zurich, and Barbados. We also went to the Bahamas on Spring Break in college. My mother told me for years that my life would be different if I hadn’t spent that $500 for that spring break trip, but that’s another story. Thanks to Aruba, the husband has now seen what a glorious thing a beach vacation can be. So hopefully there will be more of those in my future. Travel would be easier if I would get over the picky eater thing. But really, you can’t have everything.
Just before Christmas 2007, we found out I was pregnant with our first child. I was due on August 21, 2008. But Three did the stage manager in me proud and arrived not on time, but early. He was born on August 9th and our life hasn’t been the same since. I certainly sleep a lot less than I did before he got here!
